Yeah... yeah...

So I haven't posted since January, 2008. Deal with it.

In the past year and a half the Boston Blitz made it to the USCL Finals against Dallas, and lost in the blitz playoffs... AGAIN. Meh.

This coming year, Jorge Sammour-Hasbun is now the Manager of the team, making all the personnel decisions, while I'll stay on as Assistant Manager, handling all the logistical issues. Since I spent about five minutes each week trying to figure out who would play the next match, this should be a Good ThingĀ®

My chess has, as usual, bounced up and down. I was up to 1739 at one point. I'm mostly playing at the Boylston club in Somerville on Thursdays. In the last US Amateur Team East, I put together a team with Denys Shmelov, Alex Cherniack, Philip Nutzman, and me. We were "The Shmeolv Fear." We did OK, getting behind the ropes once. I played like crap mostly, missing a win against an expert in the aforementioned match, which would have given us a chance at least to finish near the top. Oh well.

A few weeks ago I played in the National Open in Las Vegas. This was my first big tournament (other than the USATE) in twenty-plus years. I had a great time, mostly away from the chessboard, but I did play one nice game:
